THE VALLEE BLANCHE

20 km of off-piste and glaciar skiing

      >

Why use a Mountain Guide?

Because you are skiing off piste, on glaciers that change from day to day (with the danger of icecliffs and crevasses) and in the high mountains where the weather can change rapidly.

Zero risk doesn't exist but … Guides have the training, the equipment and the experience to (normally) avoid or to deal with problems that may arise: and they know the route and it's specific dangers. A Guide is indispensable for your safety.

And they can share with you their love and knowledge of the mountains to make the day truly unforgettable.

Level :

Red pistes (control of the skid and braking). It is off-piste skiing... Thus, in the event of fall of recent snow, it is necessary to know to ski in all types of snow !

Go to 3 842 m !

The Aiguille du Midi cable car whisks you quickly to 3842 metres where a breathtaking view awaits..

Then we rope up so you can descend the impressive Midi ridge in safety.

Then the skiing starts, the marvellous run down the Vallée Blanche. You don't need to be an expert to ski this, just a competent skier …… so you can miss the crevasses!

There are several options for the descent:

The classic Vallée Blanche,  The Vraie Vallée Blanche (the route taken by the first skiers), The Envers du plan, The Petit Envers, The Vallée Noire,  etc   I'll lead you, between ice cliffs and crevasses, down the route that will give you the maximum enjoyment depending on your skiing ability.   You can also ski the Vallée Blanche at night - at full moon!

The descent of the Vallée Blanche generally takes a full day. We can picnic on the glacier at the place called "the salle à manger" (the dining room!) or eat savoyard specialities (this part of France is the Haute-Savoie, hence "savoyard") in the Requin Hut.

After lunch we ski down the Mer de Glace and then we can either ski all the way back to Chamonix by a forest track or we can take the Montenvers cog railway.
