A day full of excitement and challenges……..climbing cliffs already equipped with
ladders, artificial holds, handrails and very aerial walkways! The Via Ferrata are just an hour away from Chamonix on the magnificent limestone cliffs of the Aravis
(at the Col des Aravis or the Col de la Colombière or Samoens
Valley). The name “Via ferrata ”comes from via=way and ferrata=iron. The first equipment was produced about 1914-1918 by soldiers, in Italy, in Dolomites, to facilitate the displacement of the troops in mountain. Today, people sporting but not expert climbers can taste the pleasures of the ascent of rock ways. This activity is not very difficult but needs a constant effort and supposes to control the fear of the vacuum and the danger is always present. If you do not have the competences and the technical equipment to secure yourself, it is essential to climb with a Guide. |
